I skipped school for a couple days to go to a ski race in Mammoth Lakes, California. There are no mammoths here, except for the mammoth statue at the bottom of the ski area.
From where I live (San Francisco Bay Area), we drove for 7 hours. On the way, I took many pictures. I saw the desert after going over the mountains.
I saw the ranches. I saw Topaz Lake and Mono Lake (it was quite dark by then).
When we got to Mammoth, I was amazed at how big this place was. We got here pretty late... it was dark. So I went straight to bed.
